Hey Casey! More of a general question, I've moved into a new property around the city last year and i've found out historically theres a lot of lead in the soil around this area- it's made me scared to plant edibles directly into the soil because of some plants being hyperaccumulator's- are you familiar with this term & concept? I'm still learning and have been airing on the side of caution. Would love to hear your thoughts & no pressure- love ya work!!

Hey Sophie! Ahh I reckon you’re wise to be cautious for sure! Such a pain when the soil is contaminate - I’ve not had experience with it myself but I’ve heard a lot of people opt for raised beds for this reason. I’m not sure how active he is on instagram but the cheeky gardener (he also writes a column in the Sunday times) specialises in soil contamination stuff, he’s a really nice guy and might be a good one to ask. He’s done raised beds in his own garden for the same reason I think!

Thank you! I bought some herb seeds last week and plan to get my raised veggie garden back into shape next week. Perth winter?? I think we missed it...

Eeek it’s so strange still getting barely any rain, it makes me nervous, this next summer might be a pretty harsh one 😬 that’s exciting an out your veggie garden though! What herbs did you get? 😍

Parsley, coriander, and thyme. I want to get some rainbow chard because I grew it very successfully last year 🌻

ooh yes good idea about the chard - it's such an ornamental edible plant too, and so versatile in the kitchen!
