If you love gardening and my free newsletters have been making you laugh, teaching you new ideas or inspiring you to grow (and cook!) exciting things, please consider becoming a paying member of Lo fi Life. You’ll be helping me devote more time to bringing you the tastiest recipes and best gardening advice I can! :)
Generally, when beginning a newsletter, I try to find some sort of novel lead-in; a hook, a snappy intro. Something to amuse you, to make the gardening advice I’m about to give feel laid-back, interesting, relatable - you know?
Some days this is easier than others.
And so here I sit, on this cloudy morning, with the frenetic gif you see before you burning its way into my retinas, internet tabs filled with images of strawberry lip smacker chapsticks from the 90s (who else had one in every flavour?!) and Nikki Webster’s dulcet tones echoing around my cranium like the incessant chirping of a small, shrill bird in a cramped room.
In short, I still don’t know how to begin this newsletter, and now I’m suffering.
Passing right on by the questionable 90s nostalgia, if it wasn’t already obvious, today we are talking strawberries! The history of strawberries, strawberry varieties, tips for growing them, how to propagate them, common strawberry problems - you name it, we’ve got it, nothing's as sweet the taste still drives me crazy, etc. etc
A brief history the strawberry
